CAIRO, Jan 17 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Friday discussed in a phone call with Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, the latest developments in Gaza and Syria.
During the phone conversation, the two ministers lauded the sincere and intensive efforts exerted by Egypt and Qatar over the past 15 months and their full coordination, which culminated in reaching a ceasefire and hostage release deal, in a way that stops the bloodshed of the Palestinian people and allows the access of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
The two top diplomats underlined the importance of implementing the ceasefire agreement by Israel and Hamas without delay.
They also probed mechanisms for following up the implementation of the ceasefire deal.
Abdelatty and Sheikh Mohammed mulled the latest updates in Syria, as the two ministers expressed their full support for the Syrian people.
The Qatari foreign minister briefed Abdelatty on the outcome of his recent visit to Syria.
In this regard, the two sides agreed on the importance of uniting regional and international efforts to restore stability in Syria, emphasizing their support for a Syrian-led and Syrian-owned political process.
They also tackled ways of strengthening economic, trade and investment relations, through injecting new Qatari investments in Egypt, which abounds with promising opportunities in different sectors. (MENA)
