CAIRO, Jan 16 (MENA) - Romanian Ambassador to Egypt Olivia Toderean praised the tireless efforts exerted by Egypt, Qatar and the United States to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

In statements to MENA, She added that the parties should focus now on the implementation phase, which should allow for increasing the humanitarian aid that the people of Gaza desperately need.

The ambassador added that her country carried out the emergency medical evacuation of 12 Palestinian patients from the Gaza Strip, who were severely affected by the inability to access appropriate medical treatment, along with 35 members of their families.

She noted that this operation was supported financially and practically through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, in close coordination with the World Health Organization and the relevant Israeli authorities.

She explained that these patients will be distributed upon arrival in Bucharest, one patient will be transferred to the Kingdom of Norway, on board a plane of the General Inspectorate of Aviation, Romanian Civil Aeronautical Authority (RCAA), and five others, along with 16 individuals, will be flown to France aboard a Slovakian aircraft.

Another patient will be transported to Albania, accompanied by 3 family members.

She reported that five patients will receive specialized treatment in Bucharest hospitals and will receive the support of the competent Romanian institutions and non-governmental organizations, which will provide the necessary medical and psychological assistance for their recovery.

Romania will continue to contribute to efforts aimed at alleviating the effects of the humanitarian crisis on Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, in close coordination with its international partners, according to the Romanian diplomat. (MENA)
