CAIRO, Jan 14 (MENA) - French Ambassador to Egypt Eric Chevalier affirmed his country's full support for Egypt's candidate for the post of Director-General of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Khaled el-Anani.
The French Embassy in Cairo said - on its page on Facebook Tuesday - that the French ambassador affirmed full support for Anani during an event organized at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) to garner support for the Egyptian nomination for the post of the UNESCO's director-general.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates organized the event Monday as part of the campaign to nominate Anani for the prestigious post.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty participated in the event alongside Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania el-Mashat and Ahmed Moallem Faqi, Somalia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, as a guest of honor.
Also taking part were Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour, Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el-Hefny, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathi, and Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, in addition to Amr Moussa and Sameh Shoukry, the former Egyptian foreign ministers, along with Presidential Advisor for Economic Development Hala el-Saeed, Presidential Advisor for Local Development Khaled Fouad and two representatives of the House of Representatives: Counselor Ahmed Saad el-Din Mohamed Abdel-Rahim and Mohamed Abou el-Enein.
As many as 100 accredited ambassadors in Cairo, as well as a number of senior dignitaries and public figures took part in the event. (MENA)
