CAIRO, Jan 6 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said Monday caring for Egyptian citizens abroad, meeting their needs, and improving the quality and efficiency of consular services are matters of top priority to the government.
This came during a meeting he had with members of the Egyptian community in Oman, during his current official visit to the sultanate.
The meeting comes within the foreign ministry's efforts to enhance channels of communication with members of the Egyptian communities abroad and listen to their suggestions, aspirations and the challenges they face.
Abdelatty praised the positive role played by the Egyptian community in Oman in conveying a positive image of Egypt and promoting the distinguished relations between the two sisterly countries.
During the visit, Abdelatty listened to Omani officials’ remarks about the expat community's role in contributing to the modernization process witnessed by the Sultanate of Oman.
Economic cooperation between the two countries was also discussed, according to a press release.
Abdelatty reviewed the ministry's plan to develop the consular work system through the digitization of consular services to facilitate consular transactions and reduce the required time for conducting them, highlighting efforts to launch a number of services and initiatives that serve the interest of Egyptians abroad, and calling on members of the expat community to contribute effectively to the development process in the motherland, exercise their constitutional rights by participating in various constitutional entitlements, maintain communication with the homeland, and strengthen the sense of belonging and sentiments of patriotism in the second and third generations of Egyptian expats.
