CAIRO, Jan 6 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty Monday affirmed the great importance attached by Egypt to the advancement of relations with Oman.

The foreign minister, who is on an official visit to Muscat, hailed as "close" and "historical" relations between the two countries.

Abdelatty made the remarks during talks with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr al Busaidi to discuss the progress of bilateral relations as well as coordination regarding regional issues of mutual interest.

Abdelatty and Busaidi discussed frameworks of cooperation and ways to enhance relations between Egypt and Oman, in implementation of the directives of the leaderships of the two countries and in light of the momentum they have been witness since President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's visit to Muscat in June 2022 and the visit of Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq to Cairo in May 2023.

They underscored the importance of arrangements for convening the 16th session of the joint committee during the first quarter of 2025, which is meant to enhance bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
