CAIRO, Jan 1 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said Wednesday the state is capable of shouldering its responsibilities despite all burdens and challenges.
In statements after a weekly cabinet meeting, Madbouli said: “I would like to reassure citizens and all state agencies that we are able to bear our responsibilities, and thank God we were able to do so successfully in 2024 which was a very difficult year, especially with the exceptional external challenges topped by those in the region,” he added.
“The 70% drop in the revenues of the Suez Canal is enough to tell you of the difficulties and financial burdens the state faced in the last year."
"We are welcoming the new year with better planning and vision, filled with the hope that will be able to do better in all areas,” he noted.
“I would like to point out that last week the International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced the completion of the fourth review of the joint program,” he said.
The IMF message reflected confidence in the path of economic reform that the government is pursuing, according to Madbouli.
The premier pointed out that this coincided with the disbursement of the first tranche of the support program for Egypt, worth one billion euros, within the framework of the partnership program with the European Union, asserting that the sum has already been received by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) last Friday.
“We move within the framework of a clear plan in coordination with various local and international entities to achieve stability for the state,” he went on to say. (MENA)
