CAIRO, Dec 29 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty reiterated on Sunday Egypt's full support of Sudan and its keenness to stand by the brotherly nation at this critical timing to achieve its security and stability and preserve the integrity of its territories.
The top diplomat made the remarks during a meeting with his Sudanese counterpart Ali Youssef at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Tamim Khallaf said Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's stance calling for an immediate ceasefire, welcoming the Sovereign Council's decision to accelerate the delivery of humanitarian assistance by enabling the UN staffers to perform their job and setting up centers for aid storage.
He also expressed Egypt's keenness on resuming Sudan's membership in the African Union as quickly as possible.
Upon the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Abdelatty made clear that the government began taking necessary procedures to allow members of the Sudanese community to perform their Thanaweya Amma exams, a move that was highly appreciated by the Sudanese minister.
The two ministers, the spokesman said, underlined the importance of maintaining coordination to protect water security of their downstream nations. They also underlined the importance of respecting the sovereignty of Sudan and the integrity of its territories. (MENA)
