CAIRO, Dec 22 (MENA) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, emphasizing the need to intensify political consultations at the ministerial level.

This aligns with the directives of Presidents Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Vladimir Putin following their discussions at the BRICS Summit in Kazan.

The call focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, with updates on major joint projects, including the Russian Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and the Dabaa nuclear power plant.

Abdelatty and Lavrov also discussed the Syrian crisis, stressing their shared support for Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

They stressed the need for a Syrian-led, inclusive political process to restore stability and safeguard the interests of the Syrian people.

Additionally, Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s ongoing efforts to broker a lasting ceasefire and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians. (MENA)
