CAIRO, Dec 17 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized the urgent need for a swift ceasefire in Gaza, the exchange of hostages, and unrestricted humanitarian aid access during a phone call with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides.

Both leaders reaffirmed the strategic partnership between Egypt and Cyprus and discussed enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, and energy.

They also underscored the importance of the trilateral mechanism with Greece to promote regional collaboration.

Sisi reiterated Egypt's commitment to Syria's unity and called for a comprehensive political process.

For his part, the Cypriot president praised Egypt’s ongoing efforts to de-escalate regional tensions and achieve peace, stressing the need to avoid further instability in the Middle East. (MENA)
