CAIRO, Dec 15 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty headed on Sunday a meeting of the Higher Committee of Emigration held at the premises of the ministry.
Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister of Industrial Development and Minister of Transport and Industry Kamel el Wazir, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania el Mashat, Housing Minister Sherif el Sherbini, Labor Minister Mohamed Gibran and Culture Minister Ahmed Fouad Hano took part in the meeting.
The committee was formed to develop Egyptian policies towards emigration and coordinate national efforts to strengthen links among Egyptian expats.
Abdelatty said the world witnesses drastic changes and challenges as regards emigration patterns, saying Egypt is in the middle of these challenges and this necessitates activating the role of the committee to address emigration phenomenon within an integral framework with national bodies concerned with the same issue.
Abdelatty tackled the role of the committee in organizing courses for those who want to emigrate, citing an initiative launched by the Labor Ministry to hone skills of young people and link them to international markets' needs.
Abdelatty said Egypt has made significant strides in combating this phenomenon, reaffirming its commitment to continue moving forward with steady steps to protect the Egyptian people from the risks of smuggling and exploitation.
The country is working on implementing the National Strategy to Combat Illegal Migration and the Fourth National Action Plan for the period 2024–2026, as well as organizing awareness campaigns targeting governorates with high rates of migration, he said. (MENA)
