CAIRO, Dec 15 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces said Egypt's possession of capacity and strength is "necessary" to safeguard the homeland's security and safety.
Sisi made the remarks during his meeting on Sunday with a number of the army and police commanders at the headquarters of the Strategic Command in the New Administrative Capital, said Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El Shennawy.
The meeting was also attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Defense and Military Production Abdel Mageed Saqr, Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfiq, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa and Head of Egypt's General Intelligence Service (GIS) Hassan Rashad.
The spokesman added that the meeting took up the latest regional and international developments and their repercussions on the national security.
The president was briefed on the efforts exerted by the army, police and security services to protect the State's borders and its internal front against various threats in all strategic directions, according to the spokesman.
The president emphasized the Egyptian State closely follows regional and international updates, driven by the Egyptian policy's constants that are based on the necessary balance and moderation in dealing with successive events and changes.
The president underlined the Egyptian State is working to end crises and prevent the region from slipping into new hotbeds of conflict that threaten the stability of regional countries.
In this regard, President Sisi called for maximizing the capabilities of all State institutions, lauding the important role played by the army and police in preserving the homeland.
President Sisi stated the current conditions proved the awareness of the Egyptian people is the basic guarantee for overcoming regional crises and surrounding threats, the spokesman added.
He noted the State will proceed with the efforts to bring about the comprehensive development nationwide. (MENA)
