CAIRO, Dec 15 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty expressed Egypt's appreciation for the important role of the Arab Parliament (AP) in expressing the voice of the Arab peoples on priority issues, forming a unified Arab parliamentary front to defend Arab interests in international parliamentary unions and bodies as well as promoting joint Arab action.

During the foreign minister’s meeting Sunday with AP Speaker Mohammed al-Yamahi, he congratulated the AP's chief on the occasion of assuming his new position.

Abdelatty affirmed Egypt’s full support for efforts meant to develop the work of the AP and enhance its role on the regional and international arenas, in a way that contributes to achieving the interests of the Arab people at the current juncture the region is going through.

He also voiced Egypt's keenness on coordinating with the AP, in light of the importance of developing Arab parliamentary work and strengthening cooperation relations between Arab parliaments and the Union of Arab Parliamentarians.

The foreign minister also pointed out to the need to enhance the role of the AP to promote economic, social and cultural relations between Arab countries and to advance aspects of cooperation in these areas in coordination with Arab national parliaments. (MENA)
