CAIRO, Dec 12 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli emphasized the importance of streamlining the import system for vehicles designated for people with disabilities, ensuring they reach only eligible beneficiaries.

Speaking at a meeting attended by Finance Minister Ahmed Kojak, Social Solidarity Minister Dr Maya Morsy, and other officials, he highlighted ongoing efforts to address widespread misuse of the system and expedite the release of vehicles for rightful recipients.

Recent audits revealed significant misuse of the program, with numerous ineligible individuals acquiring vehicles, including welfare recipients under programs like "Takaful and Karama."

Committees established to address the issue have recovered over EGP 2.4 billion in state dues, while additional violators are being pursued. Seized vehicles from non-compliant individuals remain subject to confiscation.

Madbouli stressed the urgency of finalizing new legal frameworks to regulate the release of vehicles currently held at ports, ensuring only verified beneficiaries benefit from state-supported programs.

He affirmed the government’s commitment to eliminating profiteering and safeguarding the rights of people with disabilities. (MENA)
