LISBON, Nov 29 (MENA) - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nabil Habashi emphasized Egypt's strong commitment to its youth both at home and abroad, ensuring they remain connected to their homeland.
The statement was made during his meeting with members of the Egyptian community in Portugal, held on the sidelines of his visit to Lisbon to attend the 10th United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Forum.
Habashi highlighted the directives of Minister Badr Abdelatty to maintain constant communication with Egyptians living abroad, provide support, listen to their ideas and proposals, and address any challenges they face.
He also noted the availability of a dedicated team handling migration issues, including a WhatsApp contact channel for inquiries and suggestions, assuring the community that all submissions will receive prompt responses.
Habashi explained that the integration of the Ministry of Migration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was designed to benefit Egyptians abroad by improving efficiency, expediting consular services, and facilitating direct interaction with the ministry.
He highlighted the ministry’s efforts to digitize consular services for easier access and its coordination with relevant authorities to introduce initiatives that serve Egyptians abroad.
Habashi reiterated that Egyptian authorities enforce national laws on foreign residents in Egypt without exceptions, underscoring the principle of equality under the law, emphasizing the importance of respecting other countries' laws and abiding by local residency regulations. (MENA)
