CAIRO, Nov 23 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said no country should be allowed to put itself above the law or consider itself beyond accountability.
Abdelatty made the remarks during a joint press conference with his Bolivian counterpart Celinda Sosa on Saturday, in response to a question by a MENA reporter about ongoing coordination between Egypt and Bolivia to put an end to the appalling human suffering and humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
He emphasized the importance of respecting all resolutions issued by international institutions and organizations such as the UN Security Council or any judicial organizations.
"If we talk about an international system and a multilateral system, respect for international law and international humanitarian law must be at the heart of any such system, otherwise, the law of the jungle will prevail. And this cannot be accepted," the minister.
"Therefore, we will not cease from working to advance the negotiation process for intensifying international pressure on Israel to stop its aggression,” the minister added, citing his recent contacts with the French foreign minister as well as European and US officials to stop the ongoing killings of innocent civilians in Gaza and Lebanon.
Abdelatty stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire, warning that delusions of power and arrogance will not lead to attaining peace in the region. (MORE)
