CAIRO, Nov 19 (MENA) – Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli asserted that nuclear energy and its useful purposes play a key role in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially with regard to saving water and energy as it is clean energy that does not emit carbon emissions. Therefore, it is effective in confronting climate change and global warming.

Madbouli made the remarks while delivering a speech on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi during a ceremony held by the Nuclear Power Plants Authority (NPPA) in the New Administrative Capital on the 4th annual day of nuclear energy.

The event was attended by Ministers Mahmoud Esmat of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Gobran of Labor, Karim Badawi of Petroleum in addition to a number of senior officials.

Also, Rosatom First Deputy Director Andrey Petrov attended the event.

A documentary film was screened on the NPPA efforts to generate electricity from nuclear energy, especially the developments of the Dabaa nuclear power plant which is being implemented in tandem with the Russian side.

The premier forwarded the president’s appreciation of the efforts exerted to implement the Egyptian nuclear program.

Madbouli in turn thanked the president for his outstanding efforts and support for the Dabaa nuclear program.

The premier also voiced deep appreciation of the electricity minister for his interest in the nuclear energy file.

He expounded that the ongoing international crisis underlines the righteous Egyptian vision and strategy in the energy domain and in diversifying energy resources.

In the beginning of the year, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin witnessed via video conference pouring of the first concrete for unit 4 of the Dabaa nuclear power plant, the premier noted, voicing deep appreciation of all workers in the NPPA for their strenuous efforts.
