CAIRO, Nov 14 (MENA) – In its sixth annual session on Thursday, Kemet Boutros Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge honored winners of its 2024 awards, in the presence of members of its Board of Trustees and a galaxy of public figures and celebrities.

The Foundation's Award in the field of African studies was won by Iman Abdel Azim Sayed Ahmed Abdel Rahman (first place) and Walaa Mohamed Saber Mahrous Al-Bousati (second place).

Its Award for public international law and international organization went to Basma Adel Abdel Aziz Ali Al Sen, (first place) and Hazem Gad Ali Ibrahim (second place).

Its Award for academic excellence went to Habiba Mahmoud Abdallah (first place) and Nancy el Sherif (second place).

The awards were distributed by Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation Mamdouh Abbas, who said in his speech that the annual meeting was not held last year due to the brutal attacks on the Gaza Strip.

“Today, with the brutal aggression continuing for more than a year and claiming the lives of more than 50,000 martyrs, most of whom are women and children, we decided that there is a need to continue working for the upholding the principles of truth, justice, peace and national liberation, and to celebrate the figures who played an important role in establishing these principles and values and achieving world peace,” said Abbas.

He pointed out that the foundation has worked since its establishment to address the concerns of the Egyptian citizens and the issues of priority for the homeland, relying on the rich heritage left by Boutros-Ghali, which contains many ideas and initiatives that place peace, truth and knowledge at the forefront of its priorities.

At the end of his speech, Abbas extended his greetings to Mrs. Lea Boutros Ghali, the honorary president of the foundation and Dr. Boutros-Ghali's widow.

The Boutros Ghali Foundation began the session by observing a minute of silence for the martyrs of the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

It is noteworthy that the Boutros Ghali Foundation organizes its annual Boutros Ghali Awards ceremony every year on his birthday on November 14. (MENA)
