CAIRO, Nov 3 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty has discussed with The Hague mayor Jan van Zanen Egypt's urban development and construction boom over the past few years.
This came during the Foreign Minister's meeting Sunday with the Dutch mayor, who is currently visiting Egypt to participate in the 12th edition of the World Urban Forum scheduled to be held from November 4 to 8 in Cairo.
During the meeting, the Minister highlighted the establishment of more than 20 new cities that enjoy sustainability and digital intelligence standards, including the New Administrative Capital and the New Alamein City, in addition to establishing an advanced network of roads and bridges, developing historical neighborhoods and slums and launching multiple housing projects.
He highlighted social initiatives launched in recent years, most notably the Decent Life and Takaful and Karama initiatives to develop the Egyptian countryside, improve the quality of services and ensure that various societal groups benefit from them.
Abdelatty also praised the bilateral relations between Egypt and the Netherlands and the mutual keenness to enhance them, welcoming the development of economic relations between the two countries and the Dutch trade missions that visited Egypt during the current year, for talks on boosting cooperation in the agricultural and green hydrogen sectors.
He also explained keenness to support the economic partnership between both countries and enhance investment opportunities, noting the great interest that the Egyptian government pays to attracting foreign direct investments (FDIs).
The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed Egypt's appreciation for the Dutch projects being implemented in Egypt in several fields, including sustainable development, capacity building, development of Upper Egypt, and improving the sustainability of the water and sanitation sectors. (MENA)
