CAIRO, Nov 3 (MENA) - The Transport Ministry unveiled on Sunday a plan to transfer free of charge visitors of the 12th edition of the World Urban Forum (WUF12), to kick off on Monday under the theme of “It all starts at home: Local actions for sustainable cities and communities”.

As many as 100 environment-friendly buses will be in place to transport visitors of the forum, the second important event on the UN agenda after the climate summit.

In a statement, the ministry said the plan was prepared in cooperation with the Local Development Ministry and Cairo City hall as part of efforts to ensure smooth movement of the participants.

The bus service will start at 6:15 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. at 9 main bus stations in Greater Cairo, it said, adding that the buses will not make any stop on the way from the station till the headquarters of the forum.

Also the ministry announced launching an electronic application that is available through a download link (QRhttps://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1iTNKkx_a4-CPm-43DHHIYeinUbTwkfSg) to help forum visitors know more about bus trip schedules and locations of bus stops.

The app will also help the forum goers book other means of transportation like metro, electric train, and public transportation buses, the statement said.

The ministry will be able to monitor the bus service through the operations room affiliated with the Land Transport Regulatory Authority, which is closely connected to the buses through 100 POS devices. (MENA)
