CAIRO, Oct 30 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Wednesday held a phone call with his Djiboutian counterpart Ismail Omar Guelleh, during which the two leaders expressed appreciation for historical relations and close fraternal ties linking the two sisterly countries.

Sisi and Guelleh emphasized their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations as well as continuing to propel joint cooperation and increase its pace in various files, especially in the economic sector and in areas of investment and trade exchange, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.

They also underscored their commitment to proceeding with joint consultation and coordination on regional issues of common interest, the spokesman added.

The phone conversation touched on the developments related to a number of issues on the African continent, with the two presidents affirming the continuity of joint work to foster cooperation among countries of the region, consolidate stability, and ensure respect for the sovereignty of states within the framework of efforts to meet the aspirations of the region’s peoples towards development and prosperity.

They also discussed the situation in the Red Sea region, in addition to ways to ensure the stability and safety of maritime navigation there. (MENA)
