CAIRO, June 28 (MENA) – European Union Ambassador to Egypt Christian Berger confirmed that the Egypt-EU Investment Conference, which will kick off in Cairo Saturday, represents a pivotal step in strengthening long-term relations between both sides.

Berger said that Egypt is indeed the largest recipient at the African level for European Union investments.

Egypt has always been an exceptionally important partner of the EU, he also said, noting that Egypt and the EU decided to formulate and sign an inclusive document on their comprehensive and strategic partnership, during the first quarter of 2024. This Strategic Partnership Document aims to clearly identify specific areas of cooperation, namely: political relations, macroeconomic stability, sustainable investment and trade, including energy, water, food security and climate change, migration, security and human capital development, according to him. The implementation of these areas should unleash the full potential of Egypt-EU relationship, he pointed out.

He considered that the two-day conference is a first step in the “investment chapter” of bilateral relations and stressed that Egypt has the ability to attract additional investments from the European Union. (MENA)
