CAIRO, June 28 (MENA) - The fourth round of political consultations between Egypt and Australia has kicked off at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry in Cairo.

Assistant Foreign Minister for Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands Affairs Ambassador Ahmed Shahin chaired the Egyptian side, while the Australian side was chaired by First Assistant Secretary for Middle East and Africa Division Ambassador Marc Innes-Brown, according to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry on Friday.

The two sides discussed ways of fostering bilateral ties in various fields, especially in trade and investment, as well as the possibility of opening up Australian markets to Egyptian agricultural products.

They also exchanged views on international issues of mutual concern, notably the developments in the Gaza Strip and the situation in the Red Sea region. (MENA)
