CAIRO, July 2 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stressed the importance of integrating foreign policy with economic strategy to strengthen Egypt’s regional and international stature.
This came during Abdelatty's meeting on Wednesday with Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan el-Khatib.
The two ministers held a joint meeting with several ambassadors set to take up posts at Egyptian embassies and missions abroad.
Abdelatty commended the continued cooperation and coordination between the foreign ministry and the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade in advancing Egypt’s economic and development objectives.
He noted the key role played by Egyptian embassies abroad in advancing the country's economic and trade goals, particularly through attracting FDIs and facilitating the entry of Egyptian exports and businesses into new markets.
The top diplomat underscored the embassies’ pivotal role in promoting investment opportunities in Egypt.
He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to reinforcing the operational capacities of its diplomatic missions in line with the national development agenda, while deepening coordination with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.
For his part, Khatib outlined the measures currently being implemented to strengthen Egypt’s economy and support its national development goals.
He noted that the government’s economic reform program has contributed to a more competitive and stable investment climate, as reflected in improved growth indicators, rising FDIs, and growing international confidence in the Egyptian economy.
He said that Egypt’s national economic strategy is anchored in three core pillars: a monetary policy focused on controlling inflation, implementing a flexible exchange rate system, and boosting exports; a fiscal policy aimed at sustaining competitive tax rates and accelerating customs clearance procedures; and a trade policy committed to trade liberalization and reducing the trade deficit.
