CAIRO, June 28 (MENA) - The government has adopted extensive measures and incentives that successfully attracted leading global home appliance manufacturers to the Egyptian market, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said on Saturday, stressing the state’s belief in the importance of the industrial sector to meet local demand, particularly home appliances.
His remarks came during the inauguration of the first BSH factory in Egypt and Africa. The German-owned BSH group, which owns the renowned Bosch brand, built and equipped the facility according to the latest standards and technologies.
The plant marks the group’s first manufacturing venture in Africa and a strategic launch point for investments in Egypt and the wider region.
Madbouly was welcomed by German Ambassador in Cairo Jürgen Schulz, along with BSH executives, including Rudolf Klötzer, Jörg Ulrich, Gökhan Seçgin, Luis Alvarez, Ahmed Riyad, Murad Gendy, and Aysun Evcil.
Following the inauguration ceremony, BSH Egypt and Morocco Chairman Luis Alvarez said choosing Egypt for the group’s first African factory stems from a strategic vision that recognizes Egypt’s vast potential as a regional manufacturing hub.
"Egypt is now a key part of this robust network through the factory we inaugurate today; our first in Africa and our gateway to emerging markets,” he added.
Alvarez said the construction of the factory was accelerated as part of the group’s strategy to expand in Africa and the Middle East. The factory will export Egyptian-made cookers to countries, including Australia, Canada, Latin America, as well as across Africa and the Middle East.
Madbouly then toured the facility in 10th of Ramadan City, built on 80,000 square meters. the Company officials explained the design of the plant according to strict sustainability standards and advanced infrastructure to ensure a modern work environment.
The factory has an annual production capacity of over 350,000 gas cookers, combining German engineering with Egyptian expertise to deliver high-quality products that meet Bosch’s global standards.
BSH officials underlined that sustainability is central to all their operations, from manufacturing to product innovation, and that the factory will play a leading role in advancing industrial excellence and sustainability across Africa.
During the tour, BSH Egypt CEO Ahmed Riyad noted that the plant is expected to create around 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, with 50% of its output earmarked for export.
Factory director Murad Gendy explained the plant was designed for full manufacturing, not just assembly. He detailed a new production model introduced by BSH for the first time in Egypt, leveraging local skilled labor rather than heavy automation, while still achieving 100% compliance with BSH’s strict standards.
He said this approach followed an in-depth analysis that highlighted Egypt’s competitive advantages, its central location, robust supplier networks, and skilled workforce at all levels.
BSH officials expressed deep appreciation for the Egyptian government’s and the prime minister’s close follow-up and support since the project’s inception, saying this backing was key to completing the factory. They affirmed their commitment to making this plant a milestone that boosts BSH’s global footprint, supports Egypt’s economy, creates quality jobs, and brings long-term knowledge and innovation to Egyptian society, building on BSH’s 55+ years as one of the world’s largest home appliance manufacturers.
