CAIRO, May 7 (MENA) - The Egyptian government reiterated its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state during a weekly cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli at the New Administrative Capital on Wednesday.

The premier emphasized the ongoing coordination between Egypt and Qatar in mediating a resolution to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, aiming to create conditions for a comprehensive ceasefire and the alleviation of civilian suffering.

He highlighted recent activities led by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, including international meetings that focused on strengthening bilateral ties and addressing regional and global issues. He also welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement in Yemen, expressing hope that it would enhance maritime security in the Red Sea.

Madbouli extended greetings to Egypt's workers on Labor Day, celebrated on May 1, and referenced the president’s attendance at the national Labor Day celebration. He praised the contributions of Egyptian workers and underscored the government’s commitment to improving work environments and aligning them with global standards through technological adaptation and skill development. He emphasized the role of the new Labor Law, recently signed by the president, in promoting worker rights, job stability, and adherence to international labor agreements.

Additionally, the prime minister noted the inauguration of the second phase of Suez Steel Company and the presentation of new successful private-sector factories, underscoring Egypt's efforts to attract investments, localize industries, and expand export markets. He affirmed that these initiatives are central to the government’s economic strategy and reflect the state's ongoing drive to boost production and integrate the private sector.

The meeting also included updates from a number of ministers. Agriculture and Land Reclamation Minister Alaa Farouk reported that 1.4 million tons of locally-harvested wheat had been supplied to the government-owned silos so far, with a daily record of 130,000 tons recently achieved. Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk confirmed the disbursement of 3 billion EGP to local cotton farmers, noting that minor issues are being addressed. Housing, Public Utilities and New Urban Communities Minister Sherif El-Sherbiny discussed developments in the real estate sector, including progress on the new real estate platform in coordination with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and efforts to streamline the preliminary registration of housing units in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice.
