ASSIUT, Egypt, April 10 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli conducted Thursday an inspection tour of several service and development projects in Assiut in Upper Egypt.

The visit included the rehabilitation, renovation, and upgrade of the Czech water treatment plant, an inspection of equipment readiness, and a visit to the restoration project of the first water plant established in Assiut during the era of King Farouk.

The government places significant importance on drinking water and wastewater projects across all governorates, particularly in rural areas, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Sherif El-Sherbiny said during the tour.

He noted that the commitment is reflected in the Decent Life presidential initiative (Hayah Karima), which aims to develop villages across rural Egypt in line with Egypt Vision 2030 for achieving sustainable development goals.

Chairman of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater Mamdouh Raslan told the premier that the development of the Czech water treatment plant aims to help resolve inadequate water supply to upper floors, improve overall water quality, and address water shortages in Assiut Governorate.

The project, with a total cost of EGP 245 million, is expected to benefit half a million residents, he added.

Madbouli also inspected the alignment of equipment used by the water and wastewater sector in Assiut to ensure preparedness and readiness to respond to any emergencies. (MENA)
