CAIRO, Feb 6 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Thursday a telephone call from Guinea-Bissau's President Umaro Cissoko Embalo that dealt with ways of boosting bilateral relations between the two countries in all domains.

Presidential Spokesman Mohamed Shennawy said
President Sisi commended historical bonds binding Egypt and Guinea-Bissau.

He reiterated Egypt's readiness to offer all forms of necessary support to build cadres' capacity in top priority sectors.

Sisi also emphasized the importance of transferring Egyptian expertise to Guinea-Bissau to contribute to supporting development efforts in the African nation and achieving aspirations of its brotherly people.

The spokesman added the two leaders tackled the latest regional developments, with an emphasis on the situation in the Gaza Strip.

They asserted the significance of fully implementing the ceasefire agreement in the strip, releasing the captives and prisoners and facilitating the entry of humanitarian assistance into the strip.

They confirmed the necessity of kick-starting reconstruction efforts in the Strip and launching a political process based on the two-state solution to reach a lasting peace.

As for the Libyan crisis, the two leaders underlined the necessity of reaching a peaceful settlement to the Libyan crisis to restore peace and stability in the sisterly country.

The spokesman said both presidents affirmed the importance of maintaining joint coordination towards different issues related to the African continent and the African Union.

In this regard, President Embalo said his country is highly appreciating Egypt's historic role in supporting people in Guinea-Bissau, lauding Egypt's pivotal role in the African continent.

The spokesman said the two leaders agreed on maintaining efforts to foster bilateral ties with special emphasis on economic cooperation. They also agreed on offering required support to Guinea-Bissau to address security challenges, combat extremist doctrine and boost state institutions. (MENA)
