CAIRO, Jan 30 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty said Egypt backs security and stability of Iraq and welcomes the development witnessed in the past years in Egyptian-Iraqi relations.
This came during a phone call received by the foreign minister Thursday from his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein.
Egypt continues joint cooperation programs with Iraq and to advance them in a way that achieves the interests of the two countries and peoples.
The two ministers also exchanged views on the latest developments in the region, especially with regard to the situation in the Gaza Strip after reaching a ceasefire agreement, as well as the developments in Syria.
Abdelatty said Egypt supports the Syrian state and respects its sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, stressing the need for regional and international efforts to unite to restore stability throughout Syria and launch a comprehensive political process that includes all spectrums of the Syrian people.
