CAIRO, Jan 24 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty had talks over the phone with the foreign ministers of Tanzania, the Comoros, Gambia and Madagascar, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Mohamed Mbaye, Mamadou Tangara and Rasata Rafaravavitafika, respectively, on boosting cooperation mechanisms between Egypt and African countries in various domains.
In statements on Friday, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Tamim Khallaf said that Abdelatty asserted Egypt's keenness to continue supporting African countries in priority areas, including infrastructure, renewable energy, education, and health.
He also expressed Egypt’s readiness to continue providing technical support and training programs, and developing capacity-building in African countries.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of beefing up trade exchange and economic cooperation with African countries, underlining the Egyptian companies' significant achievements in Africa and their readiness to intensify their activities in the continent with the view to helping African countries in development efforts in various domains.
During the phone calls, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's efforts to boost regional security and stability, and continental and inter-regional integration.
He also stressed the importance of coordination to face cross-border challenges, including those related to terrorism, climate change, and food security.
Abdelatty underlined the need to consolidate cooperation among African countries within the framework of the African Union and other regional organizations to enhance development in Africa in a way that shores up African cooperation and serves the African peoples' interests.
The ministers expressed their appreciation for Egypt's leading role in supporting African issues.
They lauded Egypt's efforts to achieve regional integration and establish partnerships with its fellow African countries.
They also expressed their desire to promote cooperation with Egypt in priority areas.
They agreed on continuing consultation and coordination at all levels to develop relations and joint cooperation, and back nominations for regional and international institutions, topped by the African Union. (MENA)
