CAIRO, Jan 9 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty commended the growing cooperation between the Egyptian Space Agency (EgSA) and several global space agencies.
Abdelatty made the remarks during his meeting on Thursday with EgSA CEO Sherif Sedky and President of the African Space Agency (AfSA) Tidiane Ouattara.
The foreign minister also praised the existing coordination between his ministry and the AfSA on outer space affairs in different international forums.
Abdelatty congratulated Ouattara on assuming his post, highlighting the AfSA's important role in achieving African development goals in accordance with the African Union's (AU) Agenda 2063.
The foreign minister stressed his ministry's keenness to support the AfSA and strengthen its role for serving the interests of African nations.
Founded by the African Union in 2016, AfSA aims to promote, advise, and coordinate the development and use of space science and technology in Africa, fostering cooperation within Africa and beyond for the benefit of Africa and the world.
In February 2019, Egypt won the bid to host the AfSA's headquarters and allocated USD 10 million for its operations. (MENA)
