CAIRO, Dec 19 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi affirmed Egypt's unwavering support for all Lebanese state institutions that are managing critical responsibilities under challenging circumstances.

He stressed Egypt's readiness to provide all possible assistance to alleviate the hardships of the Lebanese people and to support state institutions in fulfilling their roles effectively.

This statement was made during a meeting between President Sisi and Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Thursday, held on the sidelines of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation Summit in the New Administrative Capital.

Presidential Spokespman Mohamed El-Shenawy said that President Sisi highlighted the importance of upholding the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon and fully implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

Additionally, President Sisi underscored the need to support the Lebanese army to enhance its capacity in maintaining stability within Lebanon, thereby contributing to regional security.

The meeting also touched on regional developments, including Egypt's efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza as a foundational step towards restoring regional stability.

Both leaders reiterated their commitment to Syria's stability, territorial integrity, and the security of its people.

They warned against the expansion of conflicts, calling for wisdom and responsibility from all parties to restore peace in the region. (MENA)
