CAIRO, March 20 (MENA) - The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said Monday that the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) declined from 3.5 children for ever-married women aged 15 to 49 in 2014 to 2.85 children in 2021.

The final results of Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) showed that the "best" fertility rates were in the governorates of Port Said, Alexandria, and Damietta, with a rate of 1.84, 2.10, and 2.13 children per woman, respectively.

While the "highest" fertility rates were in Marsa Matrouh, Assiut, and Sohag governorates, with a rate of 4.38, 3.77, and 3.68 children per woman, respectively.

The 2021 DHS confirmed a downward trend in fertility rates due to the female education that has a greater impact on fertility, according to the survey. (MENA)
